Education Week - Creating the future

Education week was celebrated at Oberon High School with the opening of our Trade Training Centre, followed by an outstanding concert featuring one of the school bands, the dance group and choir. Mr Peter Harvey, School Education Director, addressed the audience. His key message to students was that we can very much make our own future and not leave it to "luck"! As an example, Mr Harvey used Marjorie Jackson, the "Lithgow Flash", who became an outstanding Olympian through her hard work, skill and determination. Parents and visitors were welcomed to a range of open classrooms and a display in the Learning Centre of student work. A number of workshops were also available for parents - Helping your child with Numeracy and Literacy, Talented Programs at Oberon High and the Oberon High Student Welfare program. Our Year 12 students provided a sausage sizzle at lunchtime. Thankyou to students and staff who made this a very successful occasion.
