Following a breakfast barbecue catered for by Year 11 students, a special assembly was held at Oberon High School on Friday, 20th September to farewell Year 12 students. Realising the significance of this milestone, a few tears were shed as students, staff and family members were moved by the emotion of the final day. Special guests at the assembly included friends, parents and carers of the students. Representatives from each year spoke on behalf of their respective classes to wish the Year 12 students all the best in whatever their futures may bring, and to thank them for their leadership over the past year. Year 12 students gave thanks to all their teachers and special mention was made of Miss Tara Weekes, the Year 12 A
dviser. At the conclusion, in a symbolic gesture, a "guard of honour" was formed and the year 12 students were applauded as they filed out of the assembly for the last time. Year 12 will now have some time at home to study before starting their Higher School Certificate examinations on Monday, 14thOctober. Fifteen students will be sitting for their HSC this year, the culmination of thirteen years schooling. Good luck to them and all Year 12's.
