Oberon High School hosts a transition program to support Year 6 students who will be starting high school in the following year. This program runs over a number of weeks and involves the students visiting the high school over a number of days. The students meet their teachers and the school leaders as well as become familiar with where their classrooms and other facilities are located.
This year the Year 6 students are sharing the experience with students from St Josephs who will be enrolling at the high school when the secondary part of ‘Joeys' closes next year.
While Year 6 students attended between recess and lunch, St Josephs students from Years 7 through 10 spent a whole day at the high school, participating in the classes they will be part of in 2016.
The transition program is a valuable opportunity for incoming students to become familiar with all Oberon High School has to offer.
